2026 BRISBANE MARATHON FESTIVAL - Sunday 7th June 2026

brisbane 2026.png

PURA Foundation Australia supports world-leading research led by Professor Chris Reid, focused on understanding the underlying causes of PURA syndrome and identifying targeted epilepsy treatments.

As Professor Reid explains, “Our hope is to better understand what is causing the disease. By understanding this, we can design therapies that are more precise in the hope of helping not just the seizures, but the myriad of other symptoms these children have.”

This collaborative project with The Florey and the University of Melbourne will also help inform future clinical trials and provide clearer guidance for families living with PURA syndrome. By supporting Team PURA at the Brisbane Marathon Festival in June 2026, every dollar raised brings us closer to better research and treatments for those affected by PURA syndrome.

SYDNEY MINI MARATHON  2026

What a weekend -  Team PURA in Sydney 2025

PURA families and friends walked the Sydney Mini Marathon over the weekend, and the energy was incredible.

From start to finish, it was all about community, connection, and funding research for much needed treatments for PURA. The cheers, the smiles, and the shared moments made it truly special.

It reminded us that every step counts and walking together makes it even more meaningful.

Grateful that PURA Foundation Australia could be part of such a powerful day. 💜

Finding strength in community - Herald Sun Sunday 13th October

Team PURA will band together to run, jog, wheel or walk the Melbourne Marathon to raise funds for desperately needed research into the syndrome.

In just the first year since it was founded the new PURA Foundation Australia has self-funded two key studies. Now it is working with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute to research speech and communication for PURA syndrome.

“When you’re incredibly rare, your strength is in coming together,”
“Community is everything and we’ve built a community that can work together.”

Families, Clinicians, Scientists and Foundation as one community.
